Amarok, a pick up like no other.
Tough, rugged, refined. The new pick up from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is one of a kind. Whether shifting a 1000kg load up a 100% gradient, or covering 600 miles on one tank, Amarok's been designed to take even the toughest challenges in its stride.
Tested in Dakar, ready for life on site, it's flexible enough to be used day-to-day about town. With three available drive configurations, Volkswagen's Amarok will take you anywhere you need to go. You can choose from Selectable 4MOTION® all-wheel drive, Permanent 4MOTION® all-wheel drive and Rear-wheel drive (single cab only).
There's even a choice of suspension settings. Heavy-duty leaf springs for difficult assignments and comfort leaf springs for a smoother, quieter ride.
Add the high standard of build quality and all the attention to detail you'd expect, and the Volkswagen Amarok looks set to make a huge impression.

Eight months before it arrives in the UK this September, the Amarok was given the ideal opportunity to demonstrate its power, durability and off-road performance by following the Volkswagen Motorsport team in the gruelling Dakar rally.
The course, that began in Argentina on 1 January and saw contestants cross the Andes to Antofagasta on the Pacific coast in Chile before returning to Buenos Aires on the 17 January, meant traversing 5,600 miles of the toughest terrain in South America. As official support vehicle of the Rally, a fleet of 35 Volkswagen Amaroks was used to accompany both the Volkswagen Motorsport team and the event organisers, Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO).
The Volkswagen of Pick-ups
Keeping pace with the victorious Volkswagen Race Touaregs (who achieved a 1-2-3 podium finish), back-up teams travelling in the Amarok pick-ups finished all 14 legs of the race and crossed the finishing line unscathed; an accomplishment only half of all competitors are normally able to boast.
‘The event allowed the Amarok to give a clear demonstration of its abilities and robustness,’ said Dr Wolfgang Schreiber, member of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Board of Management in charge of development. ‘It’s simple,’ he continued, ‘the Amarok is the Volkswagen of Pick-ups.’
Going further between top-ups
At high altitudes, in high temperatures, and with petrol stations so far apart, engine efficiency is key to a vehicle’s success in Dakar. With mountain passes and the world’s driest desert, the Atacama, to contend with, rally rules state that all vehicles entered for the event must have a minimum range of 800 kilometers before refueling. Amarok’s range? 1000km on a single tank.
Keeping up, staying safe
Designed to tackle the toughest off-road terrain, the new Amarok is offered with an electronic differential lock (EDL) and Off-Road ABS to significantly shorten braking distances in off-road conditions or gravel roads. While the rally cars are able to rush up and down the sand dunes at not much less than top speed, supporting vehicles need to take a much more "safety-first" approach. Hill Hold Assist, Hill Descent Assist and advanced Electronic Stabilisation Programme all meant that Amarok was able to keep up, and stay safe too, across every type of terrain.
